Acquisitions of the Library for Natural Sciences of RAS with scientific events’ proceedings

Abstract

Any library collection is formed according to its users’ information requests. In scientific libraries special attention is paid to analysis of information resources entering the market, study of the dynamics and directions of information and communication processes in science. The article presents research findings of the Library for Natural Sciences of RAS holding acquisition with scientific events’ proceedings. This type of publications contains information on the latest developments, preliminary research results, appearance of new directions in fundamental studies and applied research conducted in domestic and foreign scientific institutions. Used by scientists, this information resource provides an opportunity to find associates and estimate possibilities and perspectives of private research development. Reference literature, conference proceedings and another scientific literature is a topic of great interest to scientific community, but has a small circulation and can't get into book selling establishments. Circulation of scientific events’ proceedings depends on the number of participants. Consequently, publications of proceedings of scientific conferences, academic symposiums, seminars are confidently referable to rare editions. Vast experience in this type of information resources’ acquisition also provides an opportunity to carry out the research of another small sizes editions’ accession into scientific library collection.
